my friend cecile is an artist who lives in park slope, brooklyn, and works in manhattan. she's very exotic and was born in ecuador and is of chinese ancestry. her art work focuses on cultural iconography and nature. besides her need to make art and to travel, she loves a good joke and loves to order the strangest dish on any menu. if you want to be on the email list for her future exhibitions, e-mail her at cecilechong1@aol.com.
my friend cheryl is a big traveler, and she loves different cultures and different people. when she's not jet-setting around the world, she's working hard to save it. she honed her non-profit development skills originally at seeds of peace, and she recently joined the IRC (international rescue committee), another awesome organization. the IRC works to stop human trafficking and provides relief, post-conflict development, and resettlement services for people who have been uprooted by violent conflict and oppression. their website is: www.theirc.org. cheryl lives in williamsburg (the other brooklyn).
my friend danette loves art, and her company, danette koke fine art, supports artists by placing their work in private and corporate art collections. she lives both in new york city and upstate, in hudson, where she has a horse named summit that she absolutely adores. you can visit her company's website @ danettekokefineart.com.
tanya is a bit of a renaissance woman. she is a painter, singer, writer, and co-owner of a fantastic community-based restaurant, superfine, in DUMBO (brooklyn). also doing their best to save the world, superfine's food is organic and they get their produce from local farmers. they sustain the local creative community by showcasing artists and musicians. they don't have a website but you should really go eat there as soon as possible: 126 front street at pearl, right under the manhattan bridge (718) 243-9005. (tell 'em juliette sent you - maybe i'll get a free cocktail when i go in next!)
