
spelled ohm, om or aum, the sound ohm is from the ancient, sacred hindi language of sanskrit. while chanting ohm, one aligns themselves with their highest self, and seeks to achieve oneness and peace with the universe. ohm is chanted in meditation, and is the traditional mantra in both hinduism and buddhism. called the eternal ohm, it is believed to be the first sound ever made.
the tibetan ohm has the same meaning, but the symbol is slightly different.

a yantra is a geometric design used to maintain a focused state during meditation. the sri yantra is considered the most auspicious of all the yantras, and is associated with cosmic feminine energy. it symbolizes the integration of the worldly w/the spiritual, and is often called the "union of opposites" as it also represents the integration of the powerful goddess shakti & the god shiva, the female & male principal.

the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum (ohm, to the jewel in the lotus) is recited by tibetan buddhists to invoke chenrezi, the bodhisattva of compassion. meditating upon this mantra is thought to purify the mind and body. chanting this mantra is believed to expand your loving kindness and compassion toward yourself and others.

one who has achieved a state of perfect spiritual enlightenment. enlightenment (or nirvana) is the highest form of happiness. the image of buddha represents peace, compassion, and mindfulness.

the sri vasta is known as the infinity symbol; representing the infinity of life, and the recurring cycles within it. to buddhists it represents the everlasting nature of the Buddha's teachings.
